Engine oil and oil filter change

The main maintenance to keep your engine healthy

In addition to an oil and filter change, the service may include the replacement of other filters required by the vehicle’s configuration. All checks required for a standard service will be performed, such as checking fluid levels and the condition of the brakes and tires. The service is performed in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications and environmental regulations for the disposal of used materials.

1. Symptoms

The most obvious signs that indicate when it’s time to check the engine are few but fundamental: ignoring them could seriously compromise the integrity of the engine. SERVICE WARNING LIGHT ON: In many cars, it looks like a wrench or says “Service,” while in other vehicles, a clear message appears on the dashboard, such as “Oil Change Due.” In most cars, the car’s computer is set to automatically turn on the service light every 30,000 km or every 2 years, indicating that scheduled maintenance is needed to keep the engine running at peak efficiency. LOW OIL LEVEL: If the engine oil level is too low or the pressure is incorrect, the red oil warning light (a light shaped like a can or with the word “oil can”) may come on, indicating an urgent problem that must be addressed immediately. This can be done by stopping, turning off the car, and consulting a professional for diagnosis. Regularly checking the oil with the dipstick can detect both insufficient oil and deteriorated oil: if the oil appears very dark or black, it means it has lost its effectiveness and is no longer lubricating the engine properly. VISIBLE OIL LEAKS : Oil stains, puddles, or residue under your car indicate that your engine is losing lubricant. Even small leaks shouldn’t be ignored: if the oil continues to drop, the engine risks insufficient lubrication, causing wear and serious damage. Regularly inspecting the underbody and addressing any signs of oil loss helps prevent costly breakdowns and keep your engine running smoothly.

2. What will be checked / replaced

The service may consist of just an oil and filter change or a partial or complete service with replacement of the various filters. The choice depends on the customer’s instructions and the maintenance plans indicated by the manufacturer (based on the kilometers traveled or the time elapsed since the last service).

Extraordinary checks and any component replacements will be discussed with the customer, who will always be kept informed, including through photographic documentation, of the car's condition.

  • ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER CHANGE : This service includes a complete draining and replacement of the engine oil, with disposal of the used oil in accordance with environmental regulations. We also install a new oil filter, check and top up other essential fluids such as brakes, windshield washer fluid, and coolant, and check for any oil leaks and check the correct level. When required, the service indicator is also reset. The service always uses the most suitable oil for your vehicle, whether synthetic or conventional.
  • PARTIAL / FULL SERVICE : Includes all oil and filter change operations, such as draining and replacing the engine oil, installing a new filter, checking and topping up other essential fluids and checking for any leaks, as well as resetting the service indicator when required. Additionally, depending on the type of service and the manufacturer’s instructions, other key components may be replaced or checked, including: spark plugs (for petrol engines), air filter, fuel filter, cabin filter (pollen) with internal sanitization, transmission fluid (manual or automatic), and differential or Haldex fluid. The service also includes a general check of the car, verifying the condition of: brake pads and discs, brake fluid, service belt, joint boots, tires (pressure and wear), steering and alignment, thus ensuring the correct functioning of the vehicle and safety on the road.
